About Feyrouz (Julia Oller):
I was born in Salzburg, Austria and grew up in Vienna, Austria, where I got my PhD in biology. Besides my interest in living beings I have always been interested in dance in a very general way. I tried different styles like ballet, ballroom, jazz dance, rock and roll and salsa before I finally discovered oriental dance - better known as belly dancing - which turned out to be MY dance. I started belly dancing in 1993 and I have been teaching since 1995. I studied with the internationally known teacher Momo Kadous (Frankfurt, Germany) for three years but also had several other regular teachers. I took many workshops with renowned instructors including Morokko (USA), Shahrazad (Germany), Beata & Horacio (Germany), Susanna de Veccio (USA), Dina (Egypt), Raqya Hassan (Egypt), Magdy El-Leisy (Germany), Imbrahim Farah (USA), Nelly Mazloum (Egypt), Sahra Saeeda (USA), Khaled Seif (Switzerland), Cassandra (USA), Mahmoud Reda (Egypt), Jillina (USA), Samara (USA), Leyla Jouvanna (Germany), and many many others. I also took a master course in Raks Sharki with Zaza Hassan (Paris, France) and received a Diploma in professional oriental dance. My specialty is the classical Middle Eastern style, and my aim is to convey the joy of this wonderful sensual dance to others - I love teaching! I started teaching 1995 in Nuernberg, Germany, and continued 1996 in Vienna, Austria, where I gave regular classes and workshops for three different dance studios, two of them specialized in oriental dance. In 2002 I moved to Memphis, Tennessee, where I am currently teaching at the Desert Rose Studio for Middle Eastern Dance. I also give private lessons. |
